ReplyDeleteLove it, Laura! Have a fabulous time in Turkey :)
ReplyDeleteSounds fun - if your travels ever take you to RI, give us a shout! For a great example of a crab cake, use the one from Tadich in your 'hood! Never had one better. Also, here is a fun curry salad to try:
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit from memory but here you go:
1 ½ pounds of chicken
½ can of chicken broth
½ cup of sour cream
1 Tablespoon of honey
½ cup of mayo
1 squeezed lime
½ Tablespoon of Cinnamon
½ Tablespoon of Ginger powder
2 Tablespoons of Curry powder
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 stalk of celery
1 carrot
1 green apple
½ bag of Crasins
Trim and butterfly the chicken, adding it to the boiling broth. Flip the chicken after a bit to cook pretty much through. Once it looks good, drain the broth and add some butter and veg oil to the pan to brown the chicken on both sides. While the chicken is cooking:
• Take the “wet” stuff (SC, Mayo, Honey, Lime juice) and put them in a mixing bowl
• Add all the “dry” stuff (Cin, Ginger, Curry, S&P) to the bowl
• Cut the apple, carrot and celery in to chunks and put them in the chopper to mince them
• Add the minced bits and crasins to the bowl
Once the chicken has cooled off, shred it in the chopper and add to the bowl. Mix it all together with your (hopefully) clean hands. Put in the fridge until you are ready to eat. Works well on bread or crackers.
Awesome list! Have a great time in Turkey, and when you get back, I'll show you how to make bread and crab cakes!
ReplyDeleteYAY Laura - loved reading this :) Gave me some of my own ideas! xoxo HH
